Ruby Lake NWR Update

Very little change here as fishing continues to be good and worth the long drive. Harrison Pass is still closed due to snow and probably will be for a while. Plan on using Secret Pass. The collection ditch is open and fishing has been very good using a variety of flies, spinners and lures. Anglers report days of 10 to 30 fish, often catching nice tiger trout along with rainbows. The oxbow pond behind the hatchery is still producing 10 to 15 inch fish taken on an assortment of flies along with the occasional large fish. Flies that are working include small pink or orange egg patterns, prince nymphs, frostbite chironomids, egg sucking leeches, small buggers, and emerger patterns. Other sections of the ditch are also producing nice fish using wooly buggers in olive or purple, spinners and minnow imitating lures. Green seems to be the predominant color.
