Fishing for trout has been good at Howard Prairie. Legal-sized trout have been stocked to complement trout stocked last year and a good number of 15-20 inch holdovers. A threaded nightcrawler under a bobber from shore or trolling with a wedding ring/bait combination and sliding sinker are both tried and true methods on this lake. Powerbait fished off the bottom can also produce trout near the dam. Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass should also be good in the mornings and evenings. The lake is now 61 percent full.
