For summer fun, discover Oregon’s warm water fishing locales
Trout stocking has all but ceased in many parts of the state while the hatcheries wait for the cooler temperatures that cold water species prefer. Take heart – this is when warmwater fish such as largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, and catfish deserve a hard look. Our biologists from all over the state are talking about warmwater opportunities. Here are a few suggestions: Lake Selmac, Fern Ridge Reservoir or Henry Hagg Lake for largemouth bass; the Columbia River near Troutdale for walleye or crappie fishing at Benson Lake, Foster Reservoir or McKay Reservoir. There are dozens of other locations. For more ideas, visit our Warmwater Fishing Page.
