Fishing was a little slow on the Nestucca last week, due mostly to cold temperatures, but there are definitely some fish around, and brood stock hatchery and wild steelhead numbers should just continue to improve. Heavy rains and snow melt are predicted for the North coast the next couple days which will probably blow the rivers out. However, it’s looking like they may be back in fishable shape by the weekend. For high flows try fishing larger, brighter presentations, and it can also be a good time to bring bait.
Three Rivers is starting to wind down for the early season hatchery fish but broodstock hatchery steelhead and wild steelhead should be picking up. Drift fishing is usually the go to technique on Three Rivers but casting spinners and float fishing can be effective, also.
