Winter steelhead fishing is picking up on the Clackamas as more anglers venture out to intercept fish headed back to Clackamas Hatchery. Flows have improved sufficiently that drift boats are back on the water. Conditions on the Clackamas  are much improved this week due to the warmer temperatures and flows. For now, best bet is to target the lower reaches, from Feldheimer’s to the mouth, at the usual spots – Carver, Riverside, Meldrum, and Clackamette. Conditions should continue to improve with further improvement in temperatures and flows, which may trigger fish movement.

USGS hydrological data for March 13 shows river flows at 1,670 cfs water temperature up a couple of degrees to 38° F, and the gage at11.68 ft. All of the readings come from the Estacada gauge near Milo McIver State Park. Hydrologic data and river forecasts can also be accessed on the NOAA/National Weather Service NW River Forecast Center -- NW River Forecast Center.
