River conditions in the Sandy, which have been ideal for fish movement, do not appear to be impacting angling pressure. Anglers have been catching spring Chinook throughout the Sandy River from the mouth upstream to Sandy Hatchery, and in the Columbia River near the mouth of the Sandy.
The Sandy is glacially-fed and hot weather tends to blow out the Sandy with glacial silt. However, anglers continue to catch fish in the off-colored water.
USGS hydrological data for Aug. 5 shows Sandy flows ticked down over the past week to 468 cfs and a gauge reading of 7.93 feet.
