2021 spring bear hunting forecast
Just in time for the opening of the spring bear hunting season next week, the 2021 spring bear hunting forecast offers a district-by-district look at the upcoming season.
Best bets for weekend fishing
- Some rivers on the north coast remain open to steelhead fishing through April. Expect low, clear and challenging conditions. But there are fish around.
- Fresh, chrome steelhead continue to arrive on the middle and upper Rogue.
- Trout stocking is in full swing in the western part of the state. Check the zone reports for the most recent information.
- Look for holdover trout in larger waterbodies that were stocked regularly last year. These fish have overwintered and gained weight.
- Anglers are reporting good fishing and active insect hatches during the warmest parts of the day on the Fall and Metolius rivers, and the Deschutes between Lake Billy Chinook and Benham Falls.
- There are steelhead available throughout the Imnaha, Umatilla and Wallowa river systems.
- Fishing off the coast has been hot, with full bag limits and lots of lingcod.
