Hoh River to open for gamefish

Action: Opens the lower Hoh River (below the Oxbow Boat Launch) for gamefish.
Effective date: June 1 through June 30, 2021
Species affected: Gamefish.
Location: Hoh River (Jefferson Co.), from Olympic National Park boundary near the mouth upstream to the Department of Natural Resources Hoh Oxbow Campground boat launch.
Rules:
- Statewide minimum size and daily limit, except release wild rainbow trout and cutthroat minimum size 14”.
- Only one single point barbless hook allowed. Bait prohibited. Release all wild steelhead.
- Fishing from a boat allowed but no fishing from a floating device with an internal combustion motor.
Reason for action: Provides opportunity for gamefish while protecting spring/summer-run Chinook salmon.
Additional information:
Permanent regulations that go into effect July 1 will extend the fishing season.
Fishing remains closed on the Hoh River upstream of the Oxbow boat launch to the Olympic National Park boundary and on the South Fork of the Hoh River outside of the Olympic National Park boundaries. These sections are scheduled to reopen July 1 under permanent regulations and remain open through August 31.
