Hunters have until Jan. 31 to report their 2021 hunts. You can now report online or at a license vendor. Learn more about how to report.
Best bets for weekend fishing
- We’re approaching the peak of the winter steelhead run in many areas. With the recent dry weather anglers should focus on smaller presentations in the deeper pools.
- Anglers are ice fishing in several locations in the SE and NE zones, including Lake of the Woods, Fish and Diamond lakes (SW Zone), and Unity, Krumbo and Yellowjacket reservoirs.
- Fly-fishers on the Fall, Metolius, Crooked and Blitzen rivers can sleep in. The best hatches, and fishing, will occur in mid-afternoon when water temperatures are the warmest.
- White sturgeon retention is open in the Bonneville, The Dalles and John Day pools on the Columbia River.
- When ocean conditions permit, anglers have landing nice catches of bottomfish and lingcod.
