April 22 trout opener
This Friday several popular east side trout fisheries open to fishing. These include Crane Prairie, Odell Lake, Wickiup Reservoir, Sprague River, Upper Williamson River, Wood River and a favorite section of the lower Deschutes. Check the zone reports for updates on these waterbodies and others scheduled to open this week.
Consider trout and spring Chinook this weekend
The best bets for weekend fishing will likely be:
- Trout – both stocked trout and native fish in places opening April 22.
- Spring Chinook – Early fish have been arriving many coastal rivers and streams, as well as rivers in the Willamette Valley.
As usual, check the zone reports for more information.

Find accessible fishing
Many of Oregon’s popular fishing locations are accessible to anglers with disabilities. The Disabled angler access map pinpoints these locations and describes the conditions you’ll find there.
Family fishing events return
After a two-year hiatus, we are able to offer a handful of events in 2022. They’re listed on the Take the family fishing page. If these dates and locations don't work for you, we've pulled together everything you'll need to plan your own DIY fishing adventure on that same page.
Hunters, please report banded turkeys
ODFW is asking hunters and members of the public that encounter a banded turkey to report the band number to the nearest ODFW office or by using the online form.
