Anglers at Castaic Lake reported decent bass fishing, but the bite hasn’t been wide open. The best bet has been to arrive early and leave before lunch. Fish have been active again in the evenings. Bass took drop shot Roboworms, Senkos, and Carolina rigged C3 Baits in 5 to 25 feet of water. Bluff walls and cobble stones have been good places to search for bites. Some anglers reported a topwater bite for the first couple of hours after the lake opened. Cut sardines and lug worms fooled striper in the Ski Arm, and trolled flies and umbrella rigs worked for bigger models. One angler reported several 8-to-10-pound jailbirds while working spoons after metering a striper school. Catfish anglers soaked chicken liver, dip bait, and cut sardines on the dam.
