Bluegill fishing is likely to remain good for a few weeks

The cooling trend has slowed down for now and bass and bluegill fishing is likely to remain good for a few weeks. Midday trout fishing should pick up more as temperatures cool. For now, anglers targeting trout should try to fish outside the hottest parts of the day.
Since Rock Creek Hatchery is still on limited operation, no trophy trout were stocked this year, but the reservoir was stocked with an abundance trout earlier in the year along with salmon/steelhead smolts. The salmon/steelhead should be close to legal size.
Beginning in 2016, Cooper has been stocked with coho and Chinook salmon juveniles. These are often mistaken for kokanee. Anglers may retain up to 5 salmon juveniles in the reservoir as part of their daily trout bag limit. Please remember to release salmon and trout less than 8 inches.
