As of Wednesday, there is still ice covering much of the lake. However, the marina side is starting to open quickly and the ice will be coming off any day. The first fishing after ice-off is usually great, so we expect to hear reports of fish being caught at Diamond Lake very soon.
Anglers are encouraged to check ice conditions with Diamond Lake Resort on the Diamond Lake Resort Facebook page or call 541-793-3333 for updates. Anglers can also check out current lake condition on the lodge’s live feed.
Anglers should check with the Umpqua National Forest (541-498-2531) for information on camps and ramps. Even though warmer weather is upon us, it is likely the campgrounds and ramps will take some time to clear before anglers can use them.
Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger and brown trout. These fish are intended to assist in controlling illegally introduced tui chub. These trout are catch-and-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught.
