Save $25: Report your hunt‌

Approximately 20 percent of hunters who bought a big game hunting tag in 2023 will be charged a $25 dollar fee because they didn't report their hunt by Jan. 31. Hunters who report their hunt by Jan. 31 are eligible to win a special big game tag of their choice. Which would you rather be? Find ways to report.‌

Veteran and active military waterfowl hunt Feb. 4‌

This statewide waterfowl hunt includes ducks, coots and geese, and is open only to veterans and members of the Armed Forces on active duty. Find more information, including what licenses and stamps are required.‌

Best bets for weekend fishing‌

The forecast for much of the state calls for cold and wintery weather. In some places, very cold and very wintery weather. So, may we suggest a more comfortable way to get an outdoor fix? ODFW's YouTube channel features everything from hunting and fishing tips, to amazing (and sometimes amusing) videos of Oregon wildlife, to engaging stories about how ODFW is working to help Oregon's fish and wildlife populations flourish. Recommended gear includes cozy slippers and hot chocolate.‌

Tips for late season duck hunting‌

Duck season remains open until Jan. 28. Here are some late season duck hunting trips to help you finish your season with a bang, or two.‌

Time for winter steelhead‌

Rivers levels are high right now but once they start to drop, be ready to hit the water for winter steelhead. In the meantime, check out these tips for catching more winter steelhead.‌

Chetco River: Frequent storms have made for some tough fishing conditions
Diamond Lake: Diamond is starting to freeze over and likely is not fishable
Elk River: Elk River Fishing Report
Emigrant Reservoir: Emigrant is still at 14 percent full and filling very slowly
Fish Lake : Fish Lake is 50 percent full and trout fishing should continue to be good
Howard Prairie Reservoir: Howard Prairie is 35 percent full
Hyatt Lake: Hyatt is currently 41 percent full
Lemolo Lake: Heavy recent snow will likely limit access to the reservoir
