The release from Lost Creek Reservoir is 1,250 cfs and the temperature at release is 42.5F. Expect releases from the dam to stay around that number as the reservoir fill season has started. ‌

Chrome winter steelhead are around and numbers have increased as we move into March. Movement into the hatchery has continued to be decent. Fishing plugs on the rise is a good tactic. The rivers is off color below Big Butte Creek so the only clear water is upstream of Big Butte. Lures, bait, plugs or flies are a good choice with the clear water conditions upstream of Big Butte. Pressure has been light, so this is a good time to fish the upper Rogue without crowds. ‌

Anglers can call the Army Corps of Engineers at 800-472-2434 for an update on hatchery counts as well as flow and temperature information.‌

Make sure to check the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for each section of river before you head out. ‌

For up-to-date river levels, check all the USGS Rogue gauges here.
