The Madison River is currently still under Hoot Owl restrictions for the sections below Ennis, however it is still good practice to give those fish a break during the hot hours of the day on the upper stretches. For flies I would have plenty of hoppers along with caddis nymphs and dries. Patterns like the EZ caddiscaddis emerger, and electric caddis are all good patterns to have when matching the entire caddis life cycle. As mentioned throughout this report the hopper fishing on the Madison will only get better as time progresses.
