Idaho Fish Report

Activity in this area remains variable from day to day, but there is a gradual increase in the number of fish to target. Most of the action is still happening in the morning but be prepared to search for those rising trout. The caddis are out during the mornings, stormy weather, and evenings, though they’re pretty small in size and numbers. Tricos are around, and the callibaetis are few but provide a reliable food source. PMDs have been sporadic and tend to be more active in cloudy weather, so the gloomier the weather the better your chanced are with this fly. Be ready with a variety of flies that match their size and life stages; targeting fish feeding on them can be some of the most fun fishing of the year. Also, there are plenty of terrestrials still around, so it’s a good idea to add a few ants, hopper and beetle patterns to your fly box.

• Mahogany dun patterns on hand in case of early hatches as temperatures cool.
