No Salmon Fishing on Applegate River

The Applegate River is open for trout fishing but NOT salmon and this is the time of year fall spawning Chinook are numerous in the Applegate This is mainly a catch-and-release fishery for cutthroat. Anglers will find them hanging out in the deep pools spread throughout the river but they're more numerous upstream of the town of Applegate where the water is colder. Only adipose fin clipped rainbow trout may be retained. All wild rainbow and cutthroat trout must be released unharmed. Consult the fishing regulations for more information.
