Fishing will be challenging this week

There is a boating hazard on the North Fork Nehalem between the hatchery and Aldervale. It is a tree across the river, which will require portaging at these flows.

Hatchery winter steelhead returns to the North Fork have been decent this year, but the river has dropped back to very low and clear conditions and cold water temperatures so fishing will be challenging this week.

While most of the hatchery run is winding down, the North Fork does have a release of wild broodstock hatchery fish and that strain should continue to come in through February and March.
