As a rule, striper fishing remains sluggish, but some anglers have been finding some success while trolling anchovies along the cliffs across from Cottonwood Cove and the area near 45 Mile. The fish taken near the cliffs have been averaging 15 to 18 inches in length. Those caught near 45 Mile have been somewhat larger with many reaching the 20- to 25-inch mark They seem to favor lures like the Castaic Trout or others designed to resemble planter-size rainbows. Nevada Bay, Ski Cove, Cottontail Cove all gave up largemouth bass during a tournament last weekend. Coves just north and south of Cottonwood cove were also productive. Fish ranged from 2.5 to 5 pounds. Plastics and spinner baits did the trick. Trout anglers have been finding some success at Willow Beach with spinners and PowerBait.
