East Walker River FIsh Report 06-19-07

6-19-2007

Look for a flow increase soon, but as of this report it is flowing at 150cfs.?? Low for this time of year and it is making the catching pretty good most days.?? Caddis, some stones, and a fair PMD hatch some days.?? Pt's #16-18, hares ear patterns in olive and natural #18-20, and a hot new fly called the "Silver Streak" that can be purchased at Ken's in Bridgeport.?? A very deadly rig here is a #16 Drifters copper tiger midge with an ??S.D. crystal olive zebra #18-20 tied directly to the eye of the hook for your dropper about 10-12 inches down.?? Put your weight above the upper fly six-eight inches.?? Your "Sungicator" (strike detector) should suspend the rig 1.5X's the depth of the water you are fishing.

The EW gets fished by some pretty good sticks and is heavily guided in the upper sections below the dam.?? It can get very technical this time of year as the fish have seen plenty of presentations and many have been hooked a few times. This is arguably one of the Eastern Sierras finest rivers but the average fly fisher can struggle to get into quality fish here.?? Proper weighting of your nymph rigs, fly selection, and daily knowledge of where the fish are concentrating can all be accelerated with the help of one of our highly skilled professional guides.?? You will learn more in one day with a guide than you could fathom in several years time by yourself here.

Larry Sidders from Upland, CA fished with Two Bug on the EW and got into some fine nymph fishing in several of Doug's secret spot's.?? Take a look at this fat rainbow!
