Striped bass fishing is picking up near Willow Beach about 12 miles below Hoover Dam. Chip Gilbert reeled in a 38-inch fish that weighed in at just less than 20 pounds. Not to be outdone, Bruce Silat boated a 42-pound behemoth that went almost 42 pounds. Both anglers were using swim baits resembling rainbow trout. Shore anglers have been taking stripers weighing from one to five pounds on anchovies.
Willow Beach is also producing good action for rainbow trout. Many shore anglers have been reeling in limits of planter rainbows. Most have been using PowerBait and fishing well before 7 a.m. though some die-hards have been fishing into the mid-morning hours. Most fish are in the 12-inch range, but Treasa Winkler hauled in a 19-inch lunker that weighed in at nearly four pounds. Several fish nearing the 24-inch
