Sean Whalen and Mark Wilkinson spent a day with BRF guide Caly Vines last week. The guys had a great time and a were kind enough to send us one of their photos.

Our guides are reporting both float and walk/wade fishing as some of the best they've seen in years; lucky clients as the photos they all send of their trips reflect! Here's a few more pictures from last week.

Chris Folland and his brother Chuck sent us a couple of photos along with a summary of the fishing they experiecnced.

"Spent a week in West from July 16-23 and my brother (Chuck) and I floated with Pope on the 21st on a beautiful Sunday. This was the 2nd float for me with Pope this year (last one in June) and we fished with only dry flies, as was the case the last trip.

"Chuck, Pope and I floated from Lyons down to Palisades and took our time fishing some runs as Pope got out to hold the boat on numerous occasions. Within the first 5 minutes we had landed 3 fish and probably missed twice that. We changed up the flies over the course of the first 1.5 hours until we found a combination that worked the rest of the day.

"When we tallied it up at the end of the day we caught somewhere in the range of 45-50 fish apiece (yes, an astronomical number but one that is accurate), missed twice that many and probably saw another 100 fish that didn't go for our presentations. 400 fish in an afternoon, either caught, missed or seen, is something special. Pope got us in position and guided us with some tips and for that we always thank his professionalism.

"The laughs were many, the tangled and knotted lines were few and the rain Gods kept us dry for only the 2nd time in our last 6 trips. Although the fish were much smaller in size than June, they were just as plentiful, if not more so. Each of our biggest are captured in the photos and we saw something that is not normal when a white fish took one of Chuck's flies on a float.

"I can't speak for the other anglers that day, but from the looks of things, we had a banner day and the entire trip saw great numbers of fish from the Gallatin, Taylor Fork, Madison and numerous tributaries in between. I can't wait to come back next year."
