OLYMPIA - The popular Lake Sutherland boat launch in Clallam County will be closed during the first two weeks of September to replace the existing boat ramp.
The launch site, owned and maintained by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), will be closed Sept. 3-17 while a new ramp is installed.
"The current boat ramp is dilapidated and in urgent need of replacement," said Mick Cope, regional WDFW wildlife manager. "We're pleased that the department now has the funding available to do this work."
WDFW also plans to close the launch for one or two additional days later in September to install a new boarding float and pilings, but has not yet scheduled a date. Other improvements planned for this site include a new vault restroom and a paved parking lot.
The ramp replacement was funded by "Jobs Now" funding, approved by the Washington State Legislature this year.
