On June 20, Chris Wood trolled around the north part of the reservoir with a Jensen's needlefish. He reported excellent fishing for cutthroats and rainbows that fell in the 8- to 17-inch size range. On June 19, Conservation Officer Wyatt Mecham reported that fishing success during the previous week had been fair for shoreline anglers. The catch consisted of mostly smaller fish, ranging from 9-14 inches. Most anglers had been using PowerBait and worms. Wyatt said that anglers fishing with Jakes spinners had done better than those using bait. Wyatt also indicated that most of the fish caught were cutthroat trout. He saw a few rainbow trout, but no tiger trout. In mid-May, DWR stocked the reservoir with 72,000 9-inch cutthroat trout, so it's easy to understand why cutthroats are the dominant species in the creel.
