Water clarity has cleared up since the last rain storm. Visibility is excellent further upstream, but river is still somewhat cloudy below the mouth of the Weber Canyon. Reservoirs have stopped letting water out for irrigation, so the water flows are minimal in areas below dams. Flows pick up farther down the river. Northern Region aquatics manager Paul Thompson recently fished the Weber near the Henifer and Morgan area and reported great fishing. He fished for five hours and mostly caught brown trout using white or brown streamers, nymphs, rainbow-colored sowbugs or hares ear. Using hoppers on top of the water or drowned hoppers underneath the surface should also work well. Brown trout are feeding aggressively as they prepare to spawn, which makes this a great time to fish the Weber. Check out the new DWR video that highlights Birch Creek Reservoir and other fun fall fishing spots in northern Utah.
