Boaters are having the most success in the early- to mid-morning hours. Try trolling with PowerBait at depths of around 20 feet, especially near Rainbow Bay. During recent gillnet surveys, DWR biologists pulled a 16-pound brown trout from the nets. There are some good-sized fish in the reservoir! The main ramp at Deer Creek is currently open, but the island ramp will remain closed until further notice. The Charleston boat ramp is open to non-motorized vessels only. There are currently 20 yellow-tagged fish in the reservoir. If you catch one of these fish, measure it to the millimeter, and email the information to michaelslater@utah.gov. Please keep in mind that juvenile quagga mussels have been confirmed in a water sample taken from Deer Creek Reservoir. As such, all watercraft exiting Deer Creek are legally required to decontaminate. Call the state park at 435-654-0171 to check on current conditions or visit Deer Creek on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to see the latest updates. The reservoir is currently 93 percent full, and the water temperature is in the low 50s.
