The Truckee's current flow in Reno is around 3,000 cfs. This year’s river flows will be substantially higher than they have been in recent memory. Despite the high flows the river has been reported to be fishing well for those willing to try. Brown and rainbow trout exceeding the 20 inch mark are being caught with some regularity . Fly fishermen are having success using streamers in the off colored water and other anglers are utilizing spinners and rapalas. Fishing will be hit and miss this year but the higher flows will benefit the fishery as a whole. The river is scheduled to be stocked with both cutthroat and rainbow trout in 2017.
