Spring Chinook are being caught in the Sandy River downstream from its confluence with the Bull Run River at Dodge Park and upstream of Oxbow Regional Park. Catching is sporadic, depending on the weather and run timing. For best results try the deeper holes downstream of Dodge Park. Roe, sand shrimp, and even spinners can be effective.
Summer steelhead are still spread throughout the river with the most pressure below the mouth of Cedar Creek, although catch rates have fallen off significantly the past two weeks, for all intents and purposes is mostly done for the year.
USGS hydrological data for July 10 shows Sandy flows at 443 cfs, with a gauge reading of 7.88 feet and the water temperature on the Little Sandy at Bull Run holding at 60° F.
