With all the recent rain, high water will keep anglers off the river this week. But there will be some winter steelhead around once water levels begin to drop.
During the winter months, flow and visibility on the Sandy will be affected by each passing front and change in snow levels. With the snow melt on Mt. Hood this week, this glacial-fed river will probably cloudy with low visibility.
Anglers should confirm access before they go. All Metro Parks and boat ramps (including Dabney and Lewis and Clark) are now open, but may have modified operations. Check conditions at individual parks on Metro’s website. State parks and recreation areas appear open.
USGS hydrological data for Jan. 13, shows Sandy flows near Bull Run were at 23,200 cfs with a gage height of 16.41.
