Recent thunderstorms have resulted in washed out roads and debris covered parking areas, but some anglers have made their way to Willow Beach. Check conditions before making the drive. The trout bite has been sporadic with shore anglers finding some success with a variety of baits from plastic worms to spinners to PowerBait. Most fish are typical of the 12- to 13-inch planter variety, but one angler hauled in a 22-inch rainbow. Boat fishermen have been doing well with PowerBait and Kastmasters. A 10-pound striped bass was taken on the new BBz-1 swim bait near the hatchery buoys. The Bomber Long A has also been productive, as have anchovies for bait casters.

Anglers fishing out of Cottonwood have found only moderate success though the coves north of the marina have provided some good action for boaters fishing for striped bass using anchovies in 15 to 60 feet of water. Carol Scott landed a 33-inch striper that tipped the scales at nearly 10 pounds. Catfish to two pounds have been plentiful.
