Catch rates for rainbow trout at Diamond Lake remain slightly lower, but the smokey conditions have improved and catch rates will pick up soon. A lot of anglers targeting rainbow trout have success with PowerBait in deeper water.
Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger and brown trout. Anglers targeting brown trout have been doing fantastic lately with high catch rates and some great brown trout being caught. Fly-fishing with leech patterns have been doing well. These fish are intended to assist in controlling illegally introduced tui chub. These trout are catch-and-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught.
