The lake is open water, and there is no visible ice. Anglers report catching white bass off the docks. Catfish are becoming more active and are biting on shrimp and chub meat. Crappie are also biting right now. Walleye are already starting to milt, so the spawn is not far off. On Jan. 27, anglers reported catching northern pike in the Hobble Creek tributary, west of I-15. If you catch any northern pike in Utah Lake and the tributaries, no matter the size, please bring the fish to the Division office in Springville (1115 N. Main Street) or the Utah Lake State Park office off of Center Street. The water level is at 65 percent full and the lake is 3.5 feet below full. There are 36 inches of water in the channel.
