The Division completed a gillnetting survey on May 8. Aquatics biologist Calvin Black reported a large number of wipers that were 12 to 22 inches long and weighed one to five pounds. There also found several largemouth bass, and some bluegill and green sunfish. Calvin recommends fishing before 11 a.m. for best results.
On May 7, Tom Ogden and Perry Bunderson fly fished from tubes and caught eight rainbow trout ranging from 15 to 17 inches and 10 wipers between 17 to 19 inches. They used fast sinking line with size 6-8 wooly buggers and leeches. Tom returned the next day and caught four wipers, ranging from 17 to 20 inches, in three hours. The biggest weighed three pounds, seven ounces. Tom also caught three 15- to 17-inch rainbow trout.
